BSL's 2-day course Disrupting the Business Model: Strategies for a Sustainable Enterprise enables organizational leaders, corporate strategists and sustainability officers to generate disruptive innovation by reframing today's challenges into strategic business opportunities. You will acquire practical innovation tools and methodologies, as well as facilitation skills that allow you to initiate and implement organizational change. You will also explore how the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can help you align your business activities to opportunities for growth and impact.


The course will enable you to:

  • Learn how to assess companies for future readiness and understand where they are in terms of maturiry for change and business sustainability
  • Gain an understanding of the relevance of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for business
  • Learn how to use the GAPRFRAME tool as well as the Business Sustainability Typology
  • Learn about innovation process tools for strategic business reinvention
  • Acquire facilitation techniques that can be used to moderate multi-stakeholder groups and to understand stakeholder dynamics
  • Understand the tools to assess the net positive impact

Through interactive lectures, hands-on simulations and engaging group exercises, you will learn relevant conceptual frameworks, tools and facilitations guidelines to effectively make an organisation future ready.

Dr. Barbara Dubach

Dr. Barbara Dubach has been passionate about sustainability for more than 25 years and has gained longstanding, international experiences in industry, public and non-profit sectors.

Her career started as environmental economist at the Federal Office of Environment in Switzerland. Following a PhD on ‘Managing environmental communication in multinational companies’ at the University of St. Gallen, Dr. Barbara Dubach worked for many years as Senior Vice President responsible for sustainable development coordination at LafargeHolcim (former Holcim) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) in various countries in the world.

With her broad knowledge and core competencies in strategy, stakeholder engagement, communication and impact assessment as well as her facilitation skills she created engageability, a center of excellence enabling engagement and acceleration for profit and non-profit organizations while creating value for of all stakeholders and the common good. She has several board mandates among them the Responsible Mining Foundation

Dr. Katrin Muff

Dr. Katrin Muff is a thought leader in the transformative space of sustainability and responsibility at Business School Lausanne, where she acted as Dean from 2008-2015. Under her leadership, the school focused its vision on entrepreneurship, responsibility and sustainability in education and research. Her business experience includes 10 years at ALCOA (GM in Russia, Industry Analyst for Global M&A in the U.S. and Business Analyst Europe), 3 years as Director, Strategic Planning EMEA at IAMS Europe (Procter&Gamble), and 3 years as a co-founder of Yupango, a coaching consultancy dedicated to start-ups and training management teams. Dr. Muff holds a Ph.D. in Leadership from the University of Exeter and a DBA and MBA from Business School Lausanne.

The 2-day program begins at 9:00am and finishes at 5:00pm on both days. Food will be provided and is included in the ticket price. The language of instruction is English. The program will take place at Business School Lausanne in Switzerland.


Program cost for 2018 is CHF 2'018.


Registration is not complete until you are paid in full by purchasing a ticket for this program.


We currently offer the following discounts:

  • Groups of two to five individuals attending the same program from the same organization: The first participant pays full price and a 15% discount is extended for up to four additional participants. Please note that we do not allow more than five participants from one organization in any single open-enrollment program to encourage diversity of industry and experience in the classroom.
  • Individuals attending more than one program in a calendar year: You pay full price for the first program registration and receive a 10% discount for each additional program throughout the year.
  • Social entrepreneurs: Professionals working in the social entrepreneurship sector can benefit from a 20% discount. You need to submit evidence of your activity and a paragraph describing your experience.

If you are unable to attend a program that you've registered and paid for, you are eligible for a full refund until 30 days prior to the event. Cancellation notices must be emailed to If a cancellation is received after the deadline above, no refunds will be issued, however the ticket can be transferred to another person on request. No-shows are non-refundable.


The course is designed for professionals who are comfortable reading, speaking and listening to English, and who can actively participate in presentations and classroom discussions conducted in English. While we do not require proof of English language proficiency, we expect that you are fluent in English in order to fully understand and participate in all aspects of the program.
