        Michalis Stangos & Carla Tanas, Co-Founders, Industry Disruptors – Game Changers 


Michalis is a creative entrepreneur and politically active. He is the founder and co-founder of innovative and traditional companies and organizations. He is the president and CEO of an integrated communication group of companies MSCOMM. He is also the founder of Industry Disruptors – Game Changers, an ecosystem to enhance entrepreneurship in the Southeast Mediterranean region. From 2012 onwards he is the organizer and co-coordinator of GEW. He was the creator and chief editor of a weekly business supplement of the national daily newspaper TA NEA - “OPEN MBA”. He is a member of the board of Young Entrepreneurs Association, member in the EU Business Mentor Networks, member of the task force of the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE), member of the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) Global Forum and elsewhere.He is an active communication consultant of the European Parliament and the European Commission.


Carla Tanas is a visionary creator of concepts and experiences. She has lived in the United States, Middle East and Europe and she is a citizen of the world. Now she lives in Athens, Greece and she is the Co-founder of Industry Disruptors – Game Changers, an NGO promoting entrepreneurship in the wider region and Co-curator of Global Entrepreneurship Week events for Greece and Cyprus. She is also the Executive Director of TEDMEDLive Athens. Carla is the founder of EVNTZ, an innovative company focusing on creating unique experiences in any type of event. Prior to that she was a shareholder and business developer to an FMCG company that was operating in 3 countries supplying among others Starbucks. Carla until recently was a board member of Athens Wing, an organization promoting Women in Business. She holds a business degree from Boston University and she has visited more than 65 countries.

Christos Christou, Head of Innovation & Idea Development Center, Cyta

Currently the Head of the Innovation and Idea Development Center at Cyta, Christos Christou holds an MBA in Marketing and a Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

He has been in Cyta since 1991, serving various managerial positions such as Head of Cytanet, Cytavision and as the Product Communications Manager.


11.05 – 11.25 The entrepreneurial road, the road less travelled 

Stylianos Lambrou, Founder & CEO of Social Airways and Co-Founder of Heart Cyprus 

Stylianos Lambrou, a-23 year-old UCL graduate is a serial entrepreneur from Cyprus. He founded his first startup, VillageXpress at the age of 19. Currently he is the Founder & CEO of Social Airways and the co-founder of Heart Cyprus. He describes himself as a young entrepreneur that has been motivated by taking the road less travelled by. Stylianos managed to raise $100,000 dollars for his latest startup, “Social Airways” which aims to bring together travellers and make trips an enjoyable experience – by creating an online platform for those who want added value to their journey and/or save money. 


11.25 – 11.45 EU Funding Opportunities

Dr. Celia Hadjichristodoulou, General Manager, GrantXpert Consulting Ltd 

Dr Celia Hadjichristodoulou is the Founder and General Manager of GrantXpert Consulting Ltd. She is the National Expert of Cyprus on the EU study “SME Performance Review Report” for 2012-2014. Celia is currently the project coordinator of “YOUNG LEADERS”, which aims to develop an innovative training package for European university graduates to develop and enhance their leadership skills in times of crisis. Moreover she is the Financial Manager Coordinator of BIOforLIFE, a 1.5 mln EUR project, funded under the LIFE+ Programme. Also Celia is involved in the funded project “Creativity in education”, which is implemented with the EUC.

She is also a well-known trainer/speaker on the topics of “Obtaining funding from EU and national programmes”, “Developing your employability and entrepreneurship skills” and “EU funding opportunities for young entrepreneurs”.

12.35 – 14.55 Startup Mini Bootcamp (Part 1)


Lauren Valbert, Founder of Empowering Management 


Lauren Valbert is a successful entrepreneur, and her company, Empowering Management, is an entrepreneurial consultancy helping startups transform from subject matter experts to customer-ready organizations. Customer centrism is the philosophy behind the company’s focus: she helps companies attract, retain, and motivate the customers that will make their business successful and profitable. She is an expert on the lean startup methodology, customer development, and go-to-market strategies for fast-growth startups. She is also an expert on how to pitch to investors, customers, and other stakeholders.  Lauren mentors at many top accelerator programs including Startupbootcamp, Rockstart, Utrechtinc., ACE Venture Lab, and the Startup Weekend program. Lauren also works with Fortune 500 companies, such as Microsoft, Cognizant, and ING Bank

Industry Disruptors - Game Changers

Industry Disruptors – Game Changers (ID – GC), are an initiative aiming at the creation of an ecosystem, which strengthens and promotes innovative entrepreneurship in the wider Mediterranean and Balkan region, focusing on start-ups and extroversion.

Emphasis is given on a sectoral basis, while innovation and information technologies are “horizontal” priorities. Through strategic partnerships with recognised international organizations that support entrepreneurship, ID-GC offers young entrepreneurs the opportunity to grow and mature their ideas through networking, competition, training, education, funding, mentorship and communication strategies tailored to the needs of a start-up business.
