Disputes in a Changing World Order

The MJDR is pleased to be celebrating its 10th anniversary. To mark this milestone, we are bringing together over 100 leading and emerging scholars, practitioners, and researchers in the field to discuss issues related to our symposium theme titled Disputes in a Changing World Order.

Disputes in a Changing World Order examines how geopolitical shifts, technological change, and an unstable political environment have impacted international arbitration and dispute resolution within Canada and globally.

The panels will cover the following topics:

I. Energy Arbitration in an Era of Geopolitical Competition, moderated by Martin J. Valasek, Partner & Co-Head, International Arbitration, Bennett Jones LLP.

II. A New Paradign? Investor-State Disputes in an Uncertain World, moderated by Andrea Bjorklund, L. Yves Fortier Chair in International Arbitration & International Commercial Law, McGill University, Faculty of Law.

III. The AI Race and the Future of Arbitration, moderated by Christian Leblanc, Partner & IP Expert, Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP.

The symposium consists of a keynote address by an eminent Canadian jurist, three panel discussions, a luncheon, and the day concludes with a cocktail reception.
