Description



The "Displacement and Architecture Symposium" will be held in Coral Gables in partnership with the Forum for Architecture, Culture, and Spirituality; the School of Architecture, University of Miami; the Coral Gables Museum; the AIA Miami; and The Aga Khan Award for Architecture. The conference and exhibition Sheltering Survivors aim for a broad discussion among practitioners and scholars on the tangible and intangible dimensions and mitigations of displacement, addressing the physical as well as spiritual ramifications of natural disaster, forced migration, or deportation.

Keynote Lecture by globally recognized, Berlin-based architect, Eike Roswag-Klinge, Professor Berlin Technical University & Aga Khan Award Winner. He works on natural buildings made of earth, bamboo and timber and their cultural, climatic and traditional values, reflecting the options and potentials of post-fossil society- the society of change. roswag-klinge@tu-berlin.de.

The lecture will be followed by a reception & tour of the Exhibition, Sheltering Survivors.
