Dismantle Oppression & Build Justice: Anti-Oppression Frameworks
Event Information
About this Event
Every day we see injustice all around us. It's overwhelming and hard to know where to begin in creating a just, safe world. Let's come together, connect the dots, and better understand how connected systems of oppression create inequity-- and how we have the power to dismantle them.
Note: This workshop is for people who live and/or work in Portland.
Join AORTA for an introductory anti-oppression workshop where we will:
- Create a shared understanding of systemic oppression, and how it manifests in ourselves, our organizations, and our communitites.
- Examine how systems like white supremacy, patriarchy, classism, operate together. Practice looking at root causes as well as individual examoples.
- Share strategies for intervening when oppression manifests in our lives including ways to build more just structrues & organizations.
In order to center the leadership of people of color within our work, we use a progressive registration process and hold half of our registration slots for people of color. If you are not a person of color, please only select general admission tickets. If you are a person of color, you can select any ticket available.
