DHS-CISA Presents: Disinformation Games, a panel for the 2021 Ed Games Expo
About this event
The Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (DHS-CISA) will present on inoculation theory and the future of gaming in countering Mis, Dis, and Mal-information(MDM). CISA’s MDM team will discuss their efforts around pre-bunking, inoculation theory, and the importance of games in building digital media literacy skills. The panel will also feature:
- "Harmony Square" (Video Trailer), the fun, free game (playable here) co-funded by the U.S. Department of State's Global Engagement Center and DHS that helps counter disinformation.
- Persuasion Invasion (Video Trailer), an artificial intelligence-based game for high school students to practice the skills that support productive civil discourse, developed by Colgate University through an IES/NCER award in 2015.
- Using the W-Question System (Video Trailer), middle and high school students in ELA and Social Studies become proficient in differentiating fact from fiction using an interactive and adaptive video app. Developed by Thinking Habitats through 2019-2022 USDA/NIFA SBIR awards.
