Discussion & Movie Showing on the Gender Gap in Technology Jobs With Sen. Shaheen, Rep. Davis and Movie Director
Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (EDT)
Tech jobs are growing three times faster than our colleges are producing computer science graduates. By 2020, there will be one million unfilled software engineering jobs in the USA. Yet, women are being largely left out of this rapidly growing industry, representing only 25 percent of technology jobs in the U.S.
On July 7th, Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Representative Susan Davis (D-CA), Co-Chairs of the House and Senate Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education Caucuses, invite you to join them in a discussion on what Congress can do to help make sure women are represented in computer science related fields.
Sen. Shaheen and Rep. Davis will be joined by the director of the documentary CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap, Robin Hauser Reynolds. The CODE documentary aims to inspire change in mindsets, in the educational system, in startup culture and in the way women see themselves in the field of computer coding.
