Description

Explore a new outlook on the inside of our bodies with Talcott Mountain Science Center alumnus Dr. Neil Theise as he discusses the importance of merging cultures and medicine. His inspiration? The discovery of a "new" organ.

Completely new, large scale anatomy of the human body isn’t often found. The story of the unexpected structure of the human interstitium is as interesting as its implications for human health, disease, and medicine. Dr. Theise, the senior author of this work, will share that story, along with ways in which the interstitium may be key to bridging global cultures of health and healing, from Western medicine to osteopathy to Chinese medicine and beyond.

About Dr. Neil Theise:
Dr. Theise is an alumnus of the Talcott Mountain Science Center who credits his time at Talcott for '"giving him permission to think the way he does." He is currently a Professor of Pathology at New York University School of Medicine and a senior author of a study by a group of scientists who discovered the "interstitium," a new organ within the human body. Dr. Theise received his BA in Oriental Studies (Judaica/Hebraica) and a BAS in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania before earning his MD from Columbia University.
