Both films were made by Ukrainian directors in Ireland. «The Lightkeeper» is a fictional story with a deep message, and «Malva» is a documentary about a club for older Ukrainians functioning in County Clare.
But what unites both films is the theme of war.
«The Lightkeeper» 🇺🇦🇮🇪 — is a short film from Ukrainian director Mishel Mudryk, based on book «Caretaker and her Lighthouse» by Varvara Fadieieva.It`s a story of a true friendship and a light, that shines even in a darkest times. And caretaker of a very special lighthouse knows everything about it.
"Malva" is a short documentary film shot by CLDC about the lives of elderly Ukrainians who were forced to flee from the war to Ireland. It explores how County Clare welcomed them, how their lives have changed, and the difficulties they had to face. 'Malva' has become a safe and friendly space for people who have lost their homes.
