Experts OnDemand: From Weekend Warrior to Elite Athlete: Discover Ottobock's Sports and Recreational Prostheses

Description

This is an online course that will discuss sports specific products manufactured by Ottobock, specifically focusing on components used for running. The course will include a technical overview of each foot and knee, describing the unique features and associated benefits to users. The course will also contain alignment concepts as well gait and training tips. Finally, there will be discussion on how to identify the appropriate candidate for each product.

Objectives

After successfully completing this training, attendees will be able to:

  • Understand the unique design features of each foot and knee
  • Clinical benefits for the user
  • How to properly setup and align each foot and knee
  • How to train users to use the products effectively and safely

Instructor

Brian Frasure, CP

Brian’s passion for prosthetics was ignited by his career as a Paralympic sprinter. As a ABC Certified Prosthetist, Brian has over 20 years’ experience in advanced prosthetics as a world-class amputee athlete, patient care provider, and as a bionic clinical expert. He has spent the past 14 years working with prosthetic manufacturers to advance bionic technology, most recently serving 7 years as the Director of Clinical Operations with Bionx. Brian joined ottobock in 2017 following the acquisition of Bionx Medical Technologies. There, he plans to continue his life mission of assisting other amputees in regaining their mobility, confidence and independence. Brian has a BS in Engineering from North Carolina State, and he received his ABC certification from Northwestern University in 1998.

Credits

  • Approved for 1.25 (s) ABC CEUs
  • ABC will grant Category I CEUs to Certified Prosthetist, Prosthetic Assistants, and Prosthetic Technicians. Category II CEUs will be granted to those not identified.
