Event description

Description

We’re excited to kick off a brand new year of science programming with all of you – including a bigger and better Café Inquiry, which we’re now calling Discovery on Draft! It’s the same type of programming you’ve come to know and love, but with even more to discover and dive into.

Topic

Mastodons used to roam the Indiana landscape. All that we know about them must be learned from their fossilized remains. Today, mastodons’ closest living relatives, elephants, live at the Indianapolis Zoo. Discover some of the clues left behind by mastodons and how those clues compare and contrast to what we can observe in modern elephants. After the presentations, attendees will get to explore the newly opened Ice Age Gallery and compare fossil and bone casts provided by both the Zoo and the State Museum.

Speakers

We'll talk to the Paleobiologist from the Indiana State Museum and elephant experts from the Indianapolis Zoo. Details coming soon!
