Event description

Description

During its 300 years, New Orleans has been a part of France, Spain and the US. Its history has been created by inhabitants originally from Africa, Cuba, Haiti, Europe, America and Vietnam, giving it a culture like no other city in the world.

This is your opportunity to make action and event photographs with a Second Line Band through the steamy French Quarter. Dine on amazing Creole cooking in a historic restaurant and have plenty of napkins ready while you eat a po’boy from a great local dive and learn the ins and outs of food photography. Be front row as jazz fills the air in one of the iconic night clubs, a Sazerac waiting for you on the bar while you’re making music photos of the band. Spark your creativity shooting street work with historic New Orleans as the background as a local historian explains its rich history. Create portraits of a local model in one of the cities iconic locations.

You’ll be exploring, living, tasting and photographing New Orleans for 4 days. Photographers and instructors Freddy Clark and Lyn Morton will be there to guide you every step of the way while you’re creating photography in street, cityscape, food, music and portraiture. This experience is also more than photography. Along the way you’ll get a real feel for the city, it’s people, culture, food and music from people who truly love the city and will be happy to show you beyond the electricity of Bourbon Street.

Your extensive itinerary covers 4 days and 3 nights, with the days starting early in the day and going well in to the night life of the city. You’ll be staying at the beautiful Hotel Mazarin right in the French Quarter. Your plans include at least one meal each day and transportation during the workshop, but please be aware there is a good amount of walking each day throughout the city. With two instructors you’ll get plenty of personalized attention and assistance creating photographs.

Investment for the workshop is $2500. 3 nights accommodations are included for a standard room at single occupancy. Additional guests can be accommodated for an additional fee. You’re responsible for transportation to and from the hotel at the beginning and end of the workshop. Included meals do not include alcoholic beverages. Payments are due in two installments. A non-refundable deposit pf $500 saves your place and the balance of $2000 is due no later than December 1st, 2019. If you cancel after 12/15/19 a refund cannot be accommodated. We recommend you obtain travel insurance.
