Event description

Description

Due to sell out crowds on the July 9th and 16th and August 13th tours, we are offering a 4th opportunity to stroll through Canadian History on McNabs Island!

Sunday August 20 9:30-3:30

Departure Location:
Eastern Passage: Meet at A&M Sea Charters, 87 Government Wharf Rd, Fisherman's Cove no later than 9:15 am. The boat will depart promptly at 9:30am and leave the island at 3:30pm to return to Eastern Passage by 4pm.

Join the Friends of McNabs Island for a guided tour! Learn about the important role the island played throughout our history from a Mi'kmaq First nations summer encampment, to a French fishing station and then protector of the Port of Halifax and British North America. Discover what it was like to live on the island during the World Wars and in peacetime.

Dress for the weather and island environment. Wear sturdy sneakers or hiking boots. Bring sunscreen, sunhats, insect repellent, plenty of drinking water, and a lunch. Dogs are permitted, but they must be on leash at all times.

Space is limited to 27 people; everyone must get their tickets in advance. Tickets are also needed for babies and toddlers under 2, who will travel for free courtesy of the Friends of McNabs Island.

Tours will be available in French upon request!

Cost:

$15 for members of the Friends of McNabs Island and for children ages 2 to 16; $20 for non-members.

Tickets go on sale June 24, 2017. Note that are NO refunds and there is NO rain date.
