Event description

Description

Learn about the process of vintage jewel and gem appraisals. Bring your own “treasures” for a brief consultation and hear from gemologist appraiser, Thomas B. Elliott, GJG, GIA, Catalyst Gems.

Thomas Elliott comes to the Petroleum Museum with 30 years of experience in the jewelry industry spanning different facets of sourcing, identifying, valuing, production, and sales. He attended the Gemological Institute of America in Santa Monica, California. As a Graduate Jeweler Gemologist, (G.J.G., GIA), he taught for the institution. Tom moved to Seattle, Washington, to open Elliott Gemological Laboratory. His reputation for accuracy and customer service earned him the ability to expand the company to become the North American Gemological Laboratory to accommodate international growth. That laboratory became one of the leading independent gemological laboratories in the nation, offering gem and jewelry appraisals, estate values, gem identification, diamond laser inscription, and antique and estate evaluations. Tom’s love of jewelry and all things gem related is fueled by a desire to share with customers unique, never-seen or rarely commercialized gems.

Anyone with gems or vintage jewelry that needs to be verified and/or appraised is encouraged to bring it for a brief consultation. Guests also will be able to plan for formal appraisals by Tom in his studio at a later date.

For questions or large reservations, call 432-683-4403.
