Event description

Description

Join us on a nature trek to experience some of Mount Diablo’s winter wonders. For the geologically inclined, we’ll see pillow basalt and radiolarian chert, rocks that formed far out at sea during the age of dinosaurs. For the botanically interested, we’ll stop along the trail to hug an oracle oak, the hybrid lovechild of a couple of promiscuous pollinators, the California black oak and interior live oak. And if we have another rainy winter, there will be plenty of water in the falls! The trail is rugged and exposed in several places so be sure to dress in layers, wear lug-soled boots and bring poles if you normally use them.

(Note: There are no restrooms at the trailhead, nearest bathrooms are located at the Clayton Community Park.)
