Disclaimer Comedy & Charlotte Street Computers are proud to present comedian Sara Schaefer at Lexington Avenue Brewery (LAB) in downtown Asheville on Mon., June 25, at 9 p.m. Also performing: Asheville's Minori Hinds, San Francisco's Amy Miller, and Tom Scheve. Door opens (to LAB's "Back Stage") at 8 p.m. and tickets will be available at the door for $7, or $5 online. There is a full bar in the "Back Stage" and a dinner menu available before the show.
Sara Schaefer is a critically acclaimed stand up comedian, writer, and producer based in New York City. She won two Emmy awards for her work as the Head Blogger for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, was one of Comedy Central’s Comics to Watch in 2010, and has written for BestWeekEver.tv and Who Wants to Be A Millionaire. She has appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Best Week Ever, E!, Fuse, and AOL. She co-hosts a podcast called You Had To Be There with comedian Nikki Glaser, and is currently working on a pilot for MTV with Nikki.
Sara grew up in Richmond, Virginia, and got her higher learnings at the College of William & Mary. After a year of weirdness in New Orleans, she moved to New York City to pursue comedy. Working by day as a financial analyst at a securities fraud law firm, she pursued comedy at night, performing sketch, stand up, and improv all over the city. She gathered critical acclaim for her bi-weekly stage show, “Sara Schaefer is Obsessed With You”, for which she won the ECNY award for Best Host in 2004. Since, she has produced several live shows over the years, including “Video Gaga” at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre and “Get Off Your Knees” at The Bell House.
In 2006, Sara became the host of AOL’s on-line music/comedy show, “The DL”. Over the course of a year, Sara appeared in over 350 videos with both legendary and up-and-coming musicians and performers. From there, she began blogging for BestWeekEver.tv, and then, in 2009, she begain working as the head blogger for Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Her work at Late Night earned her two Emmy Awards and a Webby Award.
Sara’s television appearances include Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Best Week Ever, and E!’s Rise of The Geeks. In 2010, she started a tumblr called Faces of The Last Season of Oprah which was a viral hit. Also in 2010, she launched a podcast called You Had To Be There with comedian Nikki Glaser, which has received critical acclaim and a rapidly growing audience.
In 2011, Sara left Late Night to write for Who Wants to be a Millionaire and pursue her stand up career. She is currently working on a pilot for MTV with Nikki Glaser.
