Welcome to DiscipleForward! In this workshop, we introduce you to a biblical grounding for discipleship growth, give you a practical framework for understanding the stages of spiritual growth, teach you how to use group sizes for optimum growth in each stage, and leave you with a DisciplePath structure for strategizing how to get people moving.
The topics for the day will include:
- How did Jesus and Paul disciple early followers?
- What exactly do you mean when you say, "discipleship"?
- What does discipleship in the church today look like?
- Why do group sizes matter?
- How do we develop a disciple path that fits our church's unique history and context?
Engage with experienced leaders in congregation-wide discipleship. Collaborate with practitioners just like you, or just ahead of you.
Who are the teachers?
Rev. Dr. Mike Johnson is the founder of Ascending Leaders, a ministry with the mission of helping churches, disciples and leaders flourish. After spending ten years as a pastor and church planter, he now coaches, teaches and writes full time, continuing in his dedication to the intentional formation of people in Christ. In doing so, he’s become a leader in observing and understanding discipleship practices that are working for congregations.
Rev. Cathy Richardson Hastie teaches, coaches, and facilitates groups for Ascending Leaders. She is a graduate of Baylor University and also a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary. After serving as an ordained pastor in the United Methodist Church, she new encourages and equips discipleship practitioners.
