Description:

When disaster strikes, it is too late to prepare! But what about the unique needs of people with intellectual and other disabilities in an emergency? What are the anticipated effects of a Cascadia Subduction Zone Earthquake? What are our government’s capabilities & limitations? What do licensing rules require/allow for preparation? How do you create a good plan?

This class will provide useful guidance for individuals with disabilities and anyone who works with, lives near or with, or supports someone with disabilities in a family, neighborhood, or professional setting (group home, foster home, work site or family home). Participants will be guided through wise preparedness tips via the Ready Now! Emergency Preparedness Tool Kit for People with Disabilities with large & small group discussion. Bring your emergency plan with you!

Small group work will help identify challenges, useful ideas and areas where participants need additional clarification about relevant OAR’s & MCAR’s. Partnering Emergency Management and Developmental Disabilities professionals will field questions, offer confidential feedbak on emergency plans and share in the goal to help create a disaster resilient, empowered community!!

AND there will be prizes!!

Questions? Robin Wiggin 503-988-6387 or Registrar Irene Lee 503-988-6396, irene.lee@multco.us
