Disability Justice 101

“People with disabilities report having greater negative work experiences than those without. This three-hour course will introduce concepts of ableism, intersectionality, microaggressions and allyship. Ultimately, this course will help participants understand the world of disability and approach it from a more equitable perspective.”

Course goals:

• Develop self-awareness around perceptions of disability

• Understand intersectionality and apply it to the realities of disability

• Explore common microaggressions experienced by people with disabilities, their negative impacts, and develop effective strategies to interrupt them

• Become a stronger ally both within the workplace and the community

Two training sessions will be held (AM & PM) on November 20th to assist with office coverage. District 4 encourages management to support this training opportunity for staff, and for staff to expand their comfort & knowledge in working alongside populations with disabilities in all roles.
