Description

This half day workshop delivered by Accessible Arts is an opportunity for key arts organisations, arts and cultural groups and individual artists across all artforms to come together and increase their knowledge and understanding of accessibility and how best to engage with people with disability through their work.

This workshop will be tailored to the needs of participants. Please complete a short survey here: (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/B2FF5ZK).

Attendees will be sharing what tactics they currently use, what challenges they face and what solutions might exist. Other topics to be covered will include; the social model of disability, definitions and statistics, common barriers, language and etiquette, physical, services and information access, hot issues including - identity and disclosure, disability culture, disability leadership. disability-led, the NDIS, how to include access and inclusion in your programs/projects and an introduction to Disability Inclusion Action Planning.

Sydney based singer/songwriter Liz Martin and arts leader and interim CEO of Accessible Arts Morwenna Collett will be facilitating this workshop designed for artists and arts organisations to be accessible and inclusive.

Tickets are $22 plus booking fee and include light refreshments.

Registration: From 9.30am. Please go straight to the McIntyre Theatre inside the Newcastle Museum.

Access: The Newcastle Museum is an accessible building with flat entrances. Accessible toilets available onsite. Workshop will be Auslan interpreted.

Parking: A bus drop-off zone is available alongside Wright Lane; however parking in this area is prohibited. Ticketed car parking is available in surrounding streets.
