The Scouting for Scouts with disabilities committee is partnering with the Maley Foundation and Crossroads Easter Seals to host a Disability Awareness workshop for both Boy Scouts and Adults on Saturday, February 2nd from 9am-2pm at Crossroads Easter Seals.
The event is Free of charge however contributions are welcome to the Alivia Claire Boyll scholarship fund, care of the Joseph Maley Foundation www.josephmaley.org
Lunch will be provided!
What Scouts Boy Scouts will do:
· Complete all requirements for the Disabilities Awareness Merit Badge
· Learn about future service project opportunities
What Adults will Learn:
· Leadership Techniques for Behavior issues
·Autism Awareness information
· Advancement for Scouts with disabilities
Prerequisites for Scouts:
Visit TWO of the following locations and take notes about the accessibility to people with disabilities. In your notes, give examples of five things that could be done to improve upon the site and five things about the site that makes it friendly to people with disabilities. You will compare these notes with the Easter Seals facility.
· Place of worship
· Camping sites
· A public exhibit or attraction.
Prerequisite for Adults:
An open heart and mind.
