Event description

Description

In an exciting new partnership, IN Series offers its Director's Salon on Stormy Weather in the lobby of Synetic Theater's production of The Tempest. Both companies take wildly divergent new approaches to the same timeless classic: Synetic stages the work in a 1,200-square-foot pool, providing a dynamic and dazzling medium through which to bring Shakespeare’s characters to emotional life, with a magical and powerful "Prospera" at the center of the action; in Stormy Weather, Sycorax claims power over the narrative at Prospero's seaside bar and grill, supported by a travesti Ariel crooning tunes made famous by Billie Holiday.

IN Series Artistic Director Tim Nelson moderates the panel, which features Stormy Weather playwright Sybil Williams (who also brought us From U Street to the Cotton Club), and Paata Tsikurishvili, Founding Artistic Director of Synetic Theater and Director of The Tempest.

Doors (and the concessions booth) open at 6:00, and the discussion goes live at 6:30. Director's Salon guests are invited to stay for Synetic's 8:00 production of The Tempest -- discounted tickets are available here: https://ci.ovationtix.com/34297/production/1011387?promo=STORMYWEATHER
