About the Speaker

Peter Tango, PhD., Chesapeake Bay Monitoring Coordinator - U.S. Geological Survey

"The bulk of my career has been focused on natural resource science and management in the mid-Atlantic region. For the last 11 years I have been the Chesapeake Bay Monitoring Coordinator with USGS at the USEPA Chesapeake Bay Program Office. Before that I spent 10 years with the MD Department of Natural Resources working on water quality issues, often times focused on Harmful Algal Bloom monitoring in Chesapeake Bay. I received my BS in Forest Biology and PhD in Fishery Science from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, NY, and squeezed in a MS in Wildlife Management from West Virginia University - Morgantown, WV. In my spare time, you will often find me running throughout the Chesapeake Bay region we live in here, training on our roads and trails, over mountains and through meadows, as I am the 2017 Xterra Atlantic Region Trail Running Champion for my age group and preparing for the Xterra World Trail Running Championships in Hawaii this December".
