We have a truly wonderful event planned for our next edition of Dining in the Dark and will be hosting the dinner at Chef Clark Barlowe’s Heirloom-Locally Sourced, Globally Inspired on Sunday, March 15th from 7-10 pm. Clark Barlowe is the chef and owner of Heirloom Restaurant in Charlotte, NC. Clark began his culinary career in his hometown of Lenoir, NC, where his family was a constant source of inspiration for traditional Southern cooking techniques and ingredients. With a mission to be “locally sourced, globally inspired,” Chef-Owner Clark Barlowe uses his extensive training and travels to create a menu that features vegetables, fruit, seafood, meat and beverages produced in North Carolina. The chef’s relationships with growers, producers and purveyors across the state allows Heirloom to offer the freshest food available and with a constantly changing menu, repeat guests find each visit to Heirloom offers a unique culinary experience.Chef Clark is an avid forager and when he is not in Heirloom’s kitchen, he can most likely be found in forests and fields, sourcing ingredients that are unavailable to most restaurants.
The cost is $75 per person or a discounted price of $125 for a couple for the full multi course meal (we will work with all food allergies and restrictions-please notify us via email at least 72 hours prior to the meal) with one cocktail/beer/wine. What a deal for this truly unique event!
The Dining in the Dark Dinner is meant to raise awareness for the Foundation Fighting Blindness and we will have a representative from the Foundation joining us for the dinner. Since 1971, the Foundation Fighting Blindness, Inc. has strived to raise funds in order to drive the research that will provide preventions, treatments and cures for people affected by retinitis pigmentosa (RP), macular degeneration, Usher syndrome, and the entire spectrum of retinal degenerative diseases. Over 600 million dollars (with an awesomely high 75% of monies generated earmarked directly for research funding) has been raised and dinners like ours will help the cause all the while having an amazing experience. The Foundation has 50 volunteer-led chapters across the U.S. These dedicated volunteers raise funds, increase public awareness, and provide support to their communities. Our area happens to fall under one of these chapters and we are happy to be joining forces to bring you these dinners. You can find out more about them here…
