Dignity in Focus Photography Auction & Exhibition Benefiting Acumen
Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM (EDT)
Join DC+acumen for our third annual Dignity in Focus event. Acumen is a non-profit venture fund that uses entrepreneurial approaches to solve the problems of global poverty. Their principle belief is that all people, no matter how rich or poor, seek dignity, not dependence. Acumen's DC chapter, DC+acumen, is hosting a one night photography auction and exhibition to benefit Acumen.
The event will be held on Thursday, October 24th at the Touchstone Gallery, 901 New York Ave NW DC, from 7:00-9:30 p.m. Ambassador Tebelelo Mazile Seretse of Botswana will be speaking. We will be auctioning the winners of of Picture Dignity, a global crowd-sourced photography contest aimed at inspiring the global community to define, illustrate, and show us what dignity means to them. In addition to the 30 global winners, we will be auctioning photography by five local winners from Washington, DC.
We anticipate an enthusiastic turnout, especially in light of the success of last year's event, where DC+acumen raised over $10,000 and drew in a crowd of well over 100 people interested in learning more about Acumen's investment model.
The price of admission is $55 for early-bird tickets before September 15, and $65 after September 15. The price of admission includes an open bar, hors d'oeuvres, the chance to bid in a silent auction, and entertainment. Guests must be 21+ to consume alcohol at the open bar. VIP tickets are available for $150 and include a VIP preview tour of the exhibit at 6:30pm with Ambassador Tebelelo Mazile Seretse, a copy of the Blue Sweater by Acumen's founder and CEO Jacqueline Novogratz, and name recognition in Dignity programs.
