Event description
Dignity at Church: Preventing and Dealing with Bullying, Harassment and Sexual Harassment in a faith community

About this Event

Expert facilitators from DRCC will join us to deliver training in preventing and dealing with bullying, harassment and sexual harassment in a faith community.

Aims:

To raise awareness of the issues surrounding harassment, bullying and sexual harassment in a community, and to equip faith leaders and volunteers to deal with this situation if it arises. To raise awareness for individuals as to the potential impact of their behaviours on others.

Objectives:

Participants will:

Understand what behaviours may constitute bullying, harassment and sexual harassment.

Be informed as to established definitions.

Be aware of the impact of bullying, harassment and sexual harassment on the individual and the community.

Be introduced to useful templates for understanding bullying and harassment and their impact

Understand the scope of the law in Ireland on bullying, harassment and sexual harassment.

Have an understanding of the best practices covering bullying, harassment and sexual harassment in their own community.

Know the range of options within their community for a member with concerns about bullying, harassment and sexual harassment

Methodology: Participation is encouraged, and questions and discussion are welcomed. This allows participants to tease out the issues, to apply the theory to practical examples, and to engage with the approach put forward. Methods include group discussion, formal inputs by the trainers, and case studies.
