Description

Emmy-winning filmmaker and global health advocate, Lisa Russell, who has 10+ years producing films and creative projects for UN/NGO agencies leads these monthly workshops around storytelling as a tool for organizing and protest. Geared towards artists and storytellers of all genres, global health advocates, communications specialists, students and others, these workshops deliver hands on practical skills to develop your storytelling skills, learn how to fund creative projects focused on social justice issues both globally and domestically and hear from guest speakers including UN personnel, cultural diplomats and UN/NGO communications experts who contract artists for paid work.

Saturday, March 18th

1-4:00pm, $50.00

Digital Storytelling Workshop

Bring your own digital camera and learn basic shooting (for both video and photography) with stylistic approaches to bring life and creativity to your story. Participants will construct and storyboard a PSA and learn of ways to approach organizations to pitch projects.

For questions or more information, contact Lisa Russell at lisa@lisarussellfilms.com.

TESTIMONIALS:

"Lisa Russell is a phenomenal speaker and inspirational role model for these students who want to emulate her and combine filmmaking/media with social justice issues/causes. As usual, she attracts an enthusiastic large group that wants to speak with her individually after the plenary."
