Description

What is this about?

This event is aimed at gathering those who are interested in providing Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs) for researchers at their institutions and who are looking for collaboration(s) to make the processes easier.

What is going to happen?

The event will focus on opportunities for establishing strategic collaborations across (inter)national institutions towards implementation of Electronic Lab Notebooks:

  • During the first part, you will hear from colleagues from several research institutions talking about their experiences in implementing ELNs and the challenges they have experienced.
  • During the second part, collaboration opportunities will be discussed such as sharing of requirements, (inter)national licensing agreements, cooperation on procurement and others.

  • Research support staff who are responsible for providing solutions for researchers at their institutions
  • Members of national and international bodies responsible for providing research infrastructure and tools

What are the goals?

The goals of this event are to:

  • Discuss the main barriers and obstacles to institutional implementation of Electronic Lab Notebooks
  • Exchange good practice and tips on what works well
  • Explore opportunities for (inter)national collaboration on joint procurement, licensing etc.
  • Decide on the next steps and actions

  • 10.40 - 11.10 - Presentation from Alastair Downie on the Electronic Lab Notebooks trial at the University of Cambridge
  • 11.10 - 11.40 - Presentation from Agustina Martinez on the integration between Research Space and the institutional repository at the University of Cambridge
  • 11.40 - 12.00 - Presentation from Harald Kusch about the implementation of RSpace at University Medical Center Göttingen
  • 12.00 - 12.15 - Providers' perspective
  • 12.15 - 12.45 - Presentations from national research infrastructure and tool providers, including representatives from SURFmarket (TBC) and Jisc (Chris Brown)
