Digital Navigator Training
Overview
Digital Navigator Training
Welcome to our Digital Navigator Training event! Join us at the Land-Of Sky Regional Council Office for an in-person interactive learning experience. Lunch is provided free to registered attendees.
Whether you feel like a beginner or know more than the average Joe, this event is for anyone interested in teaching others how to navigate the digital world. Our program coordinators will guide you through various aspects of digital literacy, internet basics, and help empower you to confidently teach technology to folks in your communities who don't know how.
What is a Digital Navigator?
- A Digital Navigator is anyone giving support to individuals around technology and/or internet usage.
- This could look like teaching someone how to use a mouse, check email, send a text, use google docs, attend a telehealth appointment or use a portal, etc.
- We are not talking about high-tech needs, but basic skills.
- If you use a smart phone, laptop, or tablet on a regular basis, you already have the technical skills that folks in our community need help learning.
If you are a community health worker, librarian, teacher, volunteer, nonprofit or church leader, or just an interested party - we want you in the room!!
We know you are already doing this work and we want to add some support. Everyone is welcome to attend regardless of your background or knowledge base. We hope you will leave this training understanding the digital divide, why having digital skills is essential, and having the confidence and resources to support individuals in the community with basic digital skills navigation.
If you don't have a place to plug in yet - we would love to talk with you about providing support in our partner organizations.
This training is for anyone currently providing any kind of digital navigation support, and, anyone willing to learn to help support more digital navigator capacity in our local region.
