Description

Digital and Information Literacy in the Age of Fake News: Strategies for the Grade 3-8 Classroom

Led by: Jeff Utecht

This two-day workshop will focus on new and emerging strategies for incorporating digital and information literacy with a media first generation. Teaching a generation that is growing up in a media first world where BREAKING NEWS is their normal and YouTube book trailers are released before the book, is creating a new culture for a generation that expects their information to be immediate. This workshop will explore ways to use media to engage students in meaningful work while creating the digital and information literacy skills needed to function in a media based world. Educators will walk away with strategies on how to support students with using media in rich ways to help show their thinking and support their learning.
