Event description
Join nonprofits and funders for an opportunity to learn what we can do in Central Texas to address digital divide.

About this Event

The pivot to virtual delivery of services in nonprofits has been unprecedented in scope and scale. The sector is experiencing major connectivity issues both within organizations themselves and within the larger Central Texas community. Through surveys and participatory data collection, the Digital Empowerment Community of Austin (DECA) and Mission Capital have worked to find themes and priorities for resources in addressing these issues.

The need to increase connectivity is essential and critical as the digital divide is impacting the ability of community members to engage and get access to resources. Many communities across the United States have systems in place for funding digital equity and processes for what digital equity collaborations could look like. Please join us on October 27th to kick-start a larger conversation on digital equity funding and partnerships in Austin and surrounding areas.

Join us to:

  1. Align on a common understanding of the issues associated with the deepening digital divide.
  2. Hear from Angela Siefer of National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) about what strategies have worked in other communities and what to expect here in Central Texas.
  3. Brainstorm what role each type of funding source can play in closing these gaps and what next steps can look like.

Who Should Attend:

  • Nonprofits, community members, and activists invested in digital inclusion and digital equity.
  • Anyone in the tech industry interested in community investment and partnership.
  • Local and state government departments who work on digital equity related issues.
  • Traditional funder and philanthropists who invest in the nonprofit sector.
