Steve Callanan

CEO & Co-Founder, WIREWAX


An electronic engineer by education, Steve started his career as the youngest TV producer in the UK. His company also became the largest producer of short-form, branded video content delivering hundreds of hours of content for the biggest online publishers. During this time, Steve developed the first motion-tracking, interactive video technology in 2010. This became the basis for WIREWAX, a multi-award-winning video technology powered by artificial intelligence which now serves over 25,000 users, including some 750 global brands.


Dan Garraway (Moderator)

Dan started in the humble origins of website design and development at university, going on to form a company which delivered the first video-dating website in the UK. During this time he traversed the industry to work in both television production and web technology at a time of tangible convergence. Dan joined Steve in 2008 at a time of unprecedented growth in online video content and became a co-founder of WIREWAX, where he now leads US growth.

Nitya Chambers

VP of Content Development, CNN


Nitya Chambers oversees strategy, growth, and special initiatives across CNN Digital’s portfolio, including CNN Money, CNN Politics, CNN Travel, and CNN Style. Nitya leads her teams to execute editorial strategy and liaises with the network’s sales, product, tech-dev and newsgathering teams.

Before joining CNN, Nitya served as the Director of Content Strategy at Threespot, a digital strategy firm based in Washington, DC serving the social good sector. In this role, she led teams to create powerful digital experiences for clients like the National Park Service, PBS Newshour, and the Smithsonian.

Prior to that, Nitya worked for nearly a decade at ABC News in roles at Nightline with Ted Koppel and ABC News Digital, where she was the first digital hire in the ABC News Washington bureau covering the 2008 presidential election. Nitya grew up in Pittsburgh and holds degrees from Boston University and Carnegie Mellon University. She lives in New York City with her husband and two children.

Nathan Thornburgh

Nathan Thornburgh was a foreign correspondent and news editor at TIME Magazine for a decade before leaving six years ago to start Roads & Kingdoms, a media company at the intersection of food, travel and foreign correspondence. Together with his partners Anthony Bourdain and Matt Goulding, Thornburgh leads projects in print, video, audio and online in an effort to create quality journalism in turbulent times. Thornburgh is a native of Key West, speaks four languages, and spent much of his 20s as a deeply unsuccessful professional musician on three continents.

Jonathan Hunt

SVP of Digital Strategy and Audience Development, National Geographic

Jonathan Hunt leads the audience development, social video and partnerships strategies contributing to National Geographic’s digital audience and revenue growth.

Previously, Hunt was Vice President of International at Vox Media and, before then, launched and scaled the company’s marketing and communications operation, raising awareness for the company, its media brands, ad capabilities and content priorities.

Before joining Vox, Hunt was the Global Marketing Director at Vice Media. He led the U.S. and international digital strategies for the company’s portfolio of media brands in 20 global markets, its HBO series and branded campaigns such as The Creators Project, a partnership with Intel.

Tom Marchant

Tom Marchant is co-founder of award-winning travel business, The Black Tomato Group where he oversees the company’s business development, marketing and content strategies. The group is made up of a personal trip planning agency, a group travel agency and creative content agency, Studio Black Tomato, regarded as one of the leading producers of travel and luxury lifestyle content.

Tom is a member of AFAR and Preferred Hotels & Resorts Travel Advisory Boards and is part of the Vanity Fair 500, a collection of the leading tastemakers in luxury. He was also recently included in Travel + Leisure’s 2017 A List as one of the best travel experts in the US. Tom has been tapped as a thought leader and is a columnist for Harper’s Bazaar where he curates lists of the world’s best destinations, hotels, and luxury travel experiences. Additionally, Tom is a columnist for Inc., where he explores innovation and how it impacts entrepreneurs, businesses and economies all over the world.
