Event description

Description

OPEN TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS aged 14-19

DIGITAL DETOX is an opportunity to unpack and clean up your habits with technology. The program will help individuals assess their current levels of technology use including passive and active usage. We'll look at impulse regulation around screen engagement and learn how companies like Twitter, Google and Snapchat are deliberately engineering their platforms to keep us scrolling. We'll talk about the latest research coming from neuroscience about how technology impacts our brains (positively and negatively) and understand how addictions are often manifestations of other mental health concerns like depression, anxiety, relational stress and more.

Other objectives / activities:

  • Gaming / Social Media: when they're good for you, when they're not
  • Parents: helping them understand your relationship to tech and collaborating on boundaries everyone can support
  • Fun Offline

BRING A SNACK / WATER BOTTLE

Craft supplies, writing materials, etc. will be available on site
