Technology continues to impact numerous consumer health and wellness markets and beauty is no exception. There is a digital beauty revolution afoot as technology and beauty merge to create novel approaches to provide consumers with deeper insights into their skincare needs. Technology is becoming the catalyst for personalization of beauty solutions, creating new business models that change the way consumers select and access their beauty products.

Kathryn Cavanaugh | Partner, Grace Beauty Capital

Kathryn Cavanaugh is a Partner at Grace Beauty Capital, an early stage venture capital firm focused on investing in emerging digital brands, consumer and retail technology companies. She has been investing in and advising in early stage companies for the last twelve years across Healthcare, Technology and Consumer. From 2005-2010, Kathryn worked for De Novo Ventures, a top quartile $650M healthcare fund, where she sourced, evaluated and executed equity investments in early to late stage healthcare companies. She also led West Coast deal sourcing for Sightline Partners, a direct secondary fund focused on early stage healthcare companies. In addition, Kathryn worked for Mainsail Partners, a lower middle market growth buyout fund, serving as their VP of Talent and a Board Director for The Bar Method, Inc, a Mainsail portfolio company. She also served as an interim Senior Executive with The Bar Method, joining after Mainsail exited their position in 2015. She began her career as a Senior Process Engineer with Merck & Co., Inc., working in the US, Europe and Asia from 1997-2003.

Kathryn is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering and Biochemistry and holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.>


Odile Roujol | Advisor in Residence, Next World Capital

Odile ROUJOL is an Advisor in Residence with Next World Capital, working with the firm's portfolio companies as they expand into international leaders. She's Advisor for Start ups in San Francisco (Fintech, BtC).She's also an advisor with The Hive Data building startups in AI and machine learning.She's a board member in different companies and member of the digital council for Scotiabank ( third global bank in Canada).

Odile was most recently the Chief Strategy and Data Officer at Orange (a leading $40 billion+ market cap French telco in 30 EMEA markets with 350 million customers), where she reported to the CEO. She previously served as SVP of Brand and Communications and SVP of Marketing for the company. Before entering the technology and telecommunications field, Odile spent a large part of her career with major brands in the field of beauty and luxury as an executive with L'Oréal, Yves Saint Laurent and Bourjois (groupe Chanel). While with L'Oréal, she managed the Lancôme brand in France and the United States and became Managing Director / President of Lancôme International in 2006 (#1 worldwide cosmetic brand in luxury retail).

She has been a Board Member of Groupama SA, a key European insurance company based in Paris.

She's a Business Angel at @50Partners, a French accelerator funded by 50 entrepreneurs dedicated to supporting selected startups. And she is a member of @BayAngels in the Bay.

Odile is a graduate of the HEC School of Management in Paris with an MBA in Marketing and Customer experience.She is now based in San Francisco.

Tonya Soman | Venture Partner, 500 Startups

Tanya Soman is a native New Yorker and Venture Partner at 500 Startups, a leading global venture capital seed fund and startup accelerator with over $250M assets under management. She focuses on investment opportunities in the consumer space with an emphasis on beauty and fashion. Tanya leads a beauty specialty track in 500's Mountain View Accelerator and spends the rest of her time scouting companies all over the world. Previously, she worked in AdTech in NYC before moving to Silicon Valley. She graduated with a BS in business management from Babson College.
