Tips, best practices, and legal developments in a cutting-edge aspect of disability rights.
From accessible websites to usable mobile apps, from federal regulations to federal lawsuits to comprehensive settlements, lawyers in all fields need to know about digital accessibility. Our speaker will take you on a lightning tour of both the practical and legal side of digital accessibility. Here are some of the issues we’ll cover:
- What is digital accessibility and why does it matter to your clients, your law office, your community?
- What federal and state laws support accessibility in the digital space?
- What advocacy strategies are disabled advocates and their lawyers using to advance digital accessibility? Attorney General investigations, US DOJ complaints, lawsuits and Structured Negotiation all play a role.
- How can you build digital accessibility into your law office technology — and into your clients digital offerings?
Optional homework before this program: Spend one hour (or even 15 minutes!) navigating websites without a mouse. Can you move around, get to content you need, or fill out a form? Accessible content is fully accessible without a mouse — because not everyone can use one.
