Event description

Description

Tour a local farm in Redmond, growing organic produce with compost made from your food scraps and yard trimmings!

Sound Sustainable Farms partners with local restaurants, including Kirkland's own Cactus, to provide locally grown organic produce. Their produce is available to the public through their weekly "Sound Bites" produce box, and they also donate produce to Hopelink.

Using locally-produced compost "completes the loop" by returning nutrients from our yards and plates to the soil to grow more food. Sound Sustainable Farms is devoted to building and maintaining healthy soils by using compost, cover crops, rotating crops and reducing tillage.

See for yourself how a local organic farm operates just minutes from Kirkland - join our free tour! Registration is required. Open to Kirkland residents - if you live outside of Kirkland please contact us to be added to our waitlist!
