Description:

Join us for this three-hour session with Jo Gusman to learn practical and immediate ways to support your English learners whether you are teaching remotely, using a hybrid model, or in person. This session will include time for you to ask Jo specific questions about meeting the needs of your students.

Jo will employ her expertise on the neurobiology of bilingualism and biliteracy research, Culturally Responsive Education frameworks, and her four decades of teaching experience.

Participants will receive the Seminar Resource Handbook called "Response to Instruction and Intervention: Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Frameworks, Processes and Strategies to Enhance the Academic Performance of Your CLD and EL Students." These will be mailed to each participant before the session.

 

 Outcome:

In this three-hour webinar, participants will discuss immediate and practical ways to:

- Use Jo Gusman’s 4Bs - Bilingual-Biliterate-Bicultural-Bicognitive Model to better address the linguistic and academic needs of English Learners,

- Learn how to use Jo Gusman’s 4Cs - Culture, Context, Contact, Content Lesson Planning Framework© to plan English language development (ELD) and ELA/Reading lessons that engage English Learners in meaningful and culturally relevant content, concepts, and texts, and

- Learn how to use Jo Gusman’s Mind-Brain-Education Science frameworks, processes, and strategies to strengthen reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and reading fluency.
