“Differential Diagnosis of Oral Mucosal and Bone Diseases”

Course Descriptions:

This course will follow the clinicopathological conference (CPC) format.  A review of a chief's complaint and physical findings, laboratory and radiological studies, differential diagnosis and its' rationale will be presented. The definitive diagnosis and management will be presented for each case discussed.  Cases will range from most common in daily practice to unusual cases.  This problem based approach to a clinical case fosters critical thinking and allows all participants the same information and opportunity to arrive at a diagnosis.

Course Objectives:

After this lecture, the participant should be able to:

1. Analyze clinical history and physical findings for patient assessment.

2. Evaluate radiological and/or pathological features to arrive at a differential diagnosis.

3. Understand and apply a problem based approach to a case to develop the 3 most probable diagnoses.

4. Describe management options.
