DIFFA San Francisco
DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, was formed by a small group of New York fashion designers 33 years ago. Devastated by the loss of so many friends and colleagues, they began organizing fund raising events to support fledgling AIDS service organizations. Expanding to all area of fine design, DIFFA has since mobilized the incredible talents and resources of the design industries, granting more than $41 million to organizations nationwide to provide direct care for people living with HIV/AIDS and preventive education for those at risk.
DIFFA San Francisco became the first chapter outside of New York within that first year. Local events have included a Designer Show House, HEARTSTRINGS (An Event in 3 Acts), Tree of Hope, Pink Umbrellas, and for 13 years, DINING BY DESIGN. In 1992, DIFFA Northern California coordinated the grant-making for the $3.2 million raised by 7th on Sale San Francisco.
