Workshop Description

The Canadian Cross edit is a quintessential example of give & take. It's salt and pepper. Its sugar and spice. But, sometimes what was meant as a sprinkling becomes a heaping. Other times, we're left wondering why anything was added at all! In this workshop, we'll go over the pitfalls of the Canadian Cross edit and how to use it so it adds something sweet to a scene without taking away what is already nice. (For those wondering "what is a Canadian Cross edit:" it's when an off-stage player briefly enters and exits a scene with the purpose of adding information.)"

About the instructor

Asa was born to Paul and Rebecca Erlendson in 1989. The first time he remembers improvising was in 3rd grade when he auditioned for a class play about a slumber party. It wasn't until 2007 that he fully stepped into the improv waters with the college troupe, Without a Box which remains dear to him. Since then he has been fortunate to perform with various groups in myriad styles, to learn from both instructors and fellow students, and to attend festivals from sea to shining sea. He loves calzones.
