The meeting’s topic will be Puberty and Sexual Development in Adolescents with Developmental Disabilities.
Our speaker will be Dr. Adiaha Spinks Franklin. Adiaha I. A. Spinks Franklin, MD is a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician and owner of DBP Doc, PLLC, a Consultation, Training and Evaluation service company. She has worked in the Meyer Center for Developmental Pediatrics at Texas Children’s Hospital and has been Assistant Professor of Pediatrics for Baylor College of Medicine since 2005. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Board of Directors of the Society of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics. She was sub-boarded in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics in 2006.
Join her for a presentation on the topic of “Puberty and Sexual Development in Adolescents with Developmental Disabilities.” Our objectives are as follows
- Describe the stages of puberty and normal sexual development
- List critical aspects of sex education
- Discuss the role of safety education in protecting against abuse
The meeting will be at Dickinson High School, 3800 Baker Drive, in the Life Skills Instruction Room (at the end of B Hall).
