The R&B Club celebrates Toni Braxton!

About this Event

Saturday November 23, 2019

D: 1:30 PM // S: 1:30 PM // $5 / $7

--

The R & B Club is a group founded by music aficionado Ashley-Dior Thomas, entrepreneur, broadcaster, and writer, Marcus Dowling, plus well-respected journalist Justin Tinsley, to celebrate the legacy of soul music. Foremost in this quest is the "Diary of an R & B Legacy" series, which will highlight key artists and their legacies from R & B's golden era.

Up next is R&B legend Toni Braxton! Toni Braxton began her professional career singing alongside her sisters, until emerging as a solo artist with a song on the soundtrack for Boomerang (1992). The following year, she released her debut self-titled album, garnering wide acclaim for singles like "You Mean the World to Me" and "Breathe Again." She later scored a megahit with "Un-Break My Heart," included on her second studio album, Secrets (1996). Braxton made history in 1998 when she became the first black actress to play Belle in the Broadway production of Beauty and the Beast!

On Saturday, November 23rd, from 1:30-3 PM, join Thomas, Dowling, and Tinsley as The R & B Club both listens to, and discusses at-length, the impact and legacy of iconic soul music.
