Event description

Description

Cabaret sensations Diane Horan Hill and Phil Lee-Thomas between them explore their love for great songwriting, 'From Swing to Soul...and Beyond', hand-picked from the Great American Songbook, pop and soul standards, and classics from the stage and screen, both old and new.

Accompanied by a 4-piece band, join Diane and Phil plus their special guests for a Crazy 'Coqtail' of humour, musical artistry and vocal passion. This evening promises to be a treat for all; a joy for the converted and a new thrill for the uninitiated.

Diane Horan Hill is a much-sought after singer on the London cabaret circuit, specialising in soul and jazz blues. Along with Phil Lee-Thomas she was a finalist in the London Gay Big Band's search for a star vocalist in 2014. As well as a renowned soloist she is also one half of 'Heart & Soul' with singer Miles Elliot, celebrating a shared love of soul classics from Motown to modern funk. Diane also appears on the 2017 Pride in London single, 'The Rest of Us', and the 'Cancer is a Drag' charity single, 'Christmas Time With You', both alongside Phil Lee-Thomas and a whole host of London cabaret stars.

Phil Lee-Thomas is resident singer of Swingcopation Big Band. As an actor he has appeared as Doctor Alec Harvey in Everyman's 'Brief Encounter', as Joe Gillis in 'Sunset Boulevard' and most recently in Wild Duck Theatre London's production of 'The Distance'. He has performed at the Welsh Proms, the Pheasantry Chelsea, California Jazz Conservatory, the Charing Cross Theatre, the Southbank Underbelly Festival and on the Trafalgar Square main stage as part of this year's Pride in London. Phil continues to develop his solo cabaret shows such as 'The Great Welsh Songbook', and 'Too Marvelous For Words': The Johnny Mercer Songbook, which was premiered at the Crazy Coqs in 2016, and is planning a new show - 'The Governer and The Master' - an appreciation of the lives of Ivor Novello and Noel Coward through their classic songs.
