Event description

Description

Do you often recall the brotherhood and camaraderie of war service?
Has the road to “homecoming” been harder and longer than you expected?
Would you like to connect with other veterans in a deeper, more meaningful way?

All veterans are invited to participate in a free, 10-week reading and discussion group that uses the ancient tale of Odysseus' epic 10-year journey home from the Trojan War to inspire conversation about the challenges of homecoming. The Odyssey reveals timeless and universal truths about trauma, duty and honor, personal sacrifice, life at home, and readjustment. The reading and discussion group is co-led by a clinician and a literature teacher and uses a model developed by Professor Roberta Stewart of Dartmouth College. Free copies of the book will be provided to participants at the first session. To view or print the program flyer, click HERE.

Hear from one of our veteran/facilitators, Brendan O'Byrne, in this short video.

FACILITATED BY:

Ann-Maria Contarino, English Instructor and Academic Counselor, Saint Anselm College
Mark Gilbertson, Licensed Clinicial Psychologist, Manchester VA Medical Center
