Event description

Description

Being healthy is a right not a privilege. All too often, though, people of color find that their access to healthcare is not the same as it is for people who are white. And although advances in civil rights have had a significant, and positive, impact, race still remains a significant factor in access to care, the quality of care, and even diagnoses of illnesses.

On October 19, four speakers will discuss their view of the status of mental healthcare disparity in the District today, who it affects, and why it matters. We then look forward to a lively conversation, moderated by Jayne O’Donnell, Health Reporter for USA Today, about how we can raise the bar for better healthcare, especially behavioral healthcare, in our community.

We hope you’ll join the conversation, become an ally for change, and make a difference in our city!
