Dialogic Reading CPIN
Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM (PST)
Dialogic reading is an interactive shared reading teaching strategy that encourages adults to prompt children with questions and engage them in a conversation, while reading a book. When teachers/providers expand on the child's responses, encourage children to retell stories, and reiterate the names, objects and events in books, dialogic reading helps young children build vocabulary and emergent language and literacy skills that will support later reading success.
During this professional development session participants will:
- Understand the language and literacy foundations with a focus on dialogic reading.
- Understand the language and literacy strategies outlined in the framework that focus on dialogic reading.
- Become familiar with the research supporting dialogic reading.
