Event description

Description

Treatments are only as effective as the diagnoses they come from, yet improving our diagnostic skills
all too often takes a backseat to learning needling techniques, the effects of intriguing new points, and point
combinations. For many acupuncturists, figuring out exactly what's wrong with a patient is the hardest
part of a visit. Clunky patient questionaires and interviews can feel overwhelming and time consuming,
while tongue and pulse diagnoses can feel elusive and innacurate to many. Abdominal palpation solves
many of these problems, allowing a quick and much less subjective way to determine a diagnosis, as
well as giving an opportunity to feel for immediate change in order to determine efficacy of certain
points used in treatment.

In this one day workshop, Kiiko Matsumoto will discuss and demonstrate the style of abdominal
palpation she has developed and used in her over thirty years in practice. She will explain classical
references in the Nan Ching, as well as more modern interpretations by Japanese masters. Learn both
basic regions of the abdomen as well as more specific sites that correlate to Western diagnoses.
Observe how simple needle combinations can quickly release areas of tightness. Palpation of distal
point and combination of root and local treatments will also be discussed.

FAQs

Is this class for beginners or more advanced practitioners?

This class will be an excellent introduction to Kiiko Matsumoto Style acupuncture as well as an excellent refresher course for more seasoned practitioners. As always in a Kiiko Matsumoto class, her latest clinical findings will be presented to the students, making the class valuable to students of all levels. A basic understanding of point location and palpation will be assumed, so it is recommended that students have completed at least their first year of acupuncture school.

Is there a difference between the Saturday and Sunday class?

No. These will be exactly the same. We have a limited amount of space, and chose to offer the class twice in order to accomidate more people.

Do I need to be a licensed acupuncturist to attend this class?

This class is open to licensed acupuncturists, acupuncture students, and medical doctors. Please specify your credentials/license number during registration or email us directly.

What's the refund policy?

Tickets are fully refundable up until October 1st, 2017. After October 1st we will not be able to refund your ticket, but you may transfer your ticket to another participant, just let us know that there has been a change. Becasue the purchase of your ticket reserves a space in the class, we cannot transfer your ticket to a future class.

I'm registered for the Sunday class but I would rather attend on Saturday (or vice versa)

Once you are registered for the class, so long as there is room on the second date we can transfer your ticket. Please email us directly. You may also cancel your registration and re-register for your preferred class via Eventbrite. If the class on the day you would prefer to attend is sold out, we won't be able to squeeze you in. For this reason, we recommend that you figure out the better day for you before October 1st.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, but we will be taking attendance at the door and you must have registered ahead of time to be able to attend the class.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable to another student?

Yes, but please contact us to let us know the name of who will be attending so we print the correct name on your certificate

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes, but please contact us to let us know the name of who will be attending so we print the correct name on your certificate.
