If you were recently diagnosed with diabetes or struggle with managing your diabetes, then this certified education class is a program that will help you. In a group setting, Bayfront Health Dade City offers a diabetic course titled, Diabetes and You. This program is one hour long and facilitated by a Certified Diabetic Educator. The class is designed to help one take charge of their diabetes.
Topics of discussion can include:
• Nutrition Information offering a Compliant diet to manage Blood Sugar
• How to Read Food Labels
• What to Look for When Dining Out
• Monitoring Your Insulin
• Managing Your Diabetes
• Medication Education
• Exercise and Diabetes
Each participant receives a customized meal plan to meet daily caloric requirements based on age and height. A very easy means is provided for accurate serving size or portion.
There is no fee for this class.
Our program follows specific guidelines from the American Diabetic Association.
If a person chooses to have a one on one consult with the dietitian, a script is required from a physician, normally with no co-pay or minimum co-pay depending on your insurance provider. (Most insurances cover this assessment fee). Please contact your insurance provider for the exact co-payment.
