Description

Stewart Greenhalgh is Saudi Aramco Chair Professor of Geophysics at KFUPM. Prior to joining CPG in August 2016 he was Professor of Geophysics at ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) for 10 years. He is also Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Adelaide. He is a graduate of the University of Sydney, Australia (B.Sc. Hons I, M.Sc. and D.Sc.) and the University of Minnesota, USA (Ph.D.). Stewart has been an academic for over 35 years, but he has also worked as a professional or consultant in various areas of mining, petroleum and engineering geophysics. His academic career has included periods of sabbatical leave at Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford, UK; Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Minnesota, USA; Department of Physics, University of Toronto, Canada; and the Institute of Geophysics, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. Professor Greenhalgh has published over 260 journal articles/book chapters in various areas of theoretical and experimental geophysics. His current, primary research interests are in seismic and electrical/electromagnetic modeling and inversion. Stewart has supervised 16 postdoctoral fellows, 36 PhD students and 30 MSc students. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and the UK Institute of Physics, He is a member of AGU, SEG, EAGE and SSA, as well as being an Editor of the journals Pure & Applied Geophysics and the Journal of Geophysics and Engineering.
