FAQs

When does the group meet?

Groups run January 10 – February 28, 2019. They occur once per week on Fridays, 4:45 – 5:30 p.m. Total of eight sessions.

What is the cost?

The total cost for all eight sessions in the group is $120 ($15 per session). Early Bird pricing of $100 ($12.50 per session) available if you sign up by December 27, 2019.

Can an older sibling attend for free?

Yes! One older sibling may attend with one paying 3-5 year old sibling.

Do I have to attend with my child?

No. Parents are welcome to attend with their child, however it is not required.

What if my child is about to turn three, can they attend?

If your child turns three sometime during the group, they may participate.

What is the format of these groups?

I always start with a hello song where I greet each child. They may choose to strum the guitar or play at the piano for the hello song. I incorporate some hand action songs (such as Five Little Ducks), listening exercises, movement to music (directions of actions to do during the song such as jump, clap, dance, etc.), cognitive tasks (numbers, colors, shapes), and taking turns and/or being a leader. Songs are chosen based on developmental goals and fit within a session theme.

To see some examples of how I use music in groups, check out the Oasis Music Therapy Facebook page.

Why is it called a Developmental Music Group?

Songs are selected to address domains of child development. These domains of development include social, emotional, cognitive, and physical. These are general group goals. If you would like individualized goals for your child, please contact me at oasismusictherapy@gmail.com.

Can I sign up to be informed of future groups?
